Arcott Place Beautification Program Our motto for our Arcott Place neighborhood is "Protect, Improve, Appreciate". With that in mind, the Arcott Homeowners' Association Board announces a beautification program for our subdivision.
This is an effort to ensure our neighborhood maintains its property values and to discourage deed restriction violations that affect our home values.
We need your help. Below is a list of the most common deed violations. Please take the time to evaluate your property and work to correct any violations you may have. Here's what the Board would like you to do, both homeowner and lessee: DO, remove all trash and trash cans from the front of your property regularly; DO, cut your grass regularly; DO, water your lawn regularly so it stays healthy; DO, trim your bushes and trees so that they do not obstruct sidewalks or your neighbor's property; DO, repair broken windows, doors and garage doors; DO, paint your home to avoid fading and rotting wood; DO, remove mildew from brick and siding; DO, keep your fencing in good repair; DO, keep your driveway free of stains and discoloring; DO, keep vehicles from the front of your home that are not moved daily; DO, keep your children safe by not playing sports in our streets; DO, remove basketball goals from our streets; DO, keep your pets safe by keeping them on a leash; DO, help us maintain a safe neighborhood by reporting criminal activity and mischief that destroys our properties DO, support our efforts by paying your neighborhood dues.

Remember, neighbors, a home is more than just a roof over your head, or a place to go after work, your home is the most valuable asset you own. Therefore, maintaining, nurturing and enhancing its appeal makes good sense. Every home improvement you make increases the value of your home and adds to the value of our neighborhood.

Arcott Place Yard of the Month Program Overview Arcott Place Homeowners Association (HOA) sponsors a self-governed "Yard of the Month" program.
The program funs for nine months from April to December. The purpose of the program is to recognize Arcott Place neighbors who demonstrate above-average efforts in maintaining their property, thereby contributing to the overall appearance of the community at large. There is an award and the program is administered entirely by volunteers.
The award winner receives an official "Yard of the Month" lawn-sign, to be placed on their property for the duration of their award month. If your sign becomes lost or damaged, please request a replacement by contacting the Homeowners Association. The position of the sign should be prominent in the yard located midway between the street and the front of the house.

Contest Guidelines All current Arcott Place properties are automatically eligible.
Award winners are selected based on the judging criteria listed below.
The upkeep of the yard can reflect the efforts of the residents themselves or that of a professional landscaper or groundskeeper.
An award duration term lasts a single calendar month and runs from the first day of the month to the last day of that same month.
The same property cannot receive more than one award in the same year.
At least 12 months must elapse between awards for the same yard.
Yard of the Month winners who are not current with their Association dues will receive recognition but will forfeit the monetary prize. The prize will be applied toward HOA dues.
While an individual's home is being recognized as an Arcott Place Yard of the Month" they are expected to maintain their yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the title.
The Yard of the Month committee members will travel through the neighborhood and judge all homes on the same day and the winner will be notified the first week of every month.
Judging Criteria Arcott Place, Yard of the Month candidates are judged solely on the total exterior appearance of their property and front yard as viewed from the street. General upkeep of the yard and property is paramount. Factors include the overall appearance, tidiness and neatness of the front of the property as evidenced by pruned, trimmed and shaped foliage, edged and defined lawns, borders & flower beds, and a visually appealing facade.

LAWN: Healthy grass with no bare spots or excessive weeds. Grass shall be mowed and edged, d plants removed. Trees and shrubs pruned. Beautification efforts including new flowers, new trees, new shrubs, etc. Plantings in scale with the surroundings with a variety of plantings that do not confuse the eye.
WALKWAYS & DRIVEWAYS: Walkways and driveways shall be clean (including trash containers or yard products removed from view). Area in front of curb free from debris and dirt. Evening appearance after dusk including accent lighting, safety lighting, visible interior lighting, etc.
AESTHETICS: Overall look of landscaping (use of color and textures, garden art). Inviting look of front entryway (hanging baskets, pots, cleanliness etc.) Originality/creativity (any special touches of the owner i.e., yard art, bird feeders, etc.)
Summary note: While lack of strict adherence to the criteria above does not result in a disqualification, these principles offer general guidelines that will be recognized by the Arcott Place Yard of the Month program.

In turn, we look to celebrate those who do a superior job in maintaining their yards in such a way that they enhance the overall curb appeal of the entire community.

Arcott Place Holiday House and Yard Decorating Award Program Arcott Place Homeowner's Association (HOA) sponsors a self-governed "Holiday House and Yard Decorating Award Program in the month of December. The purpose of the program is to garner community spirit, get neighbors talking to neighbors and create a stronger community for Arcott residents. There is an award and the program is administered entirely by volunteers.
The holiday house contest does not have categories and sees all varieties of houses. Winners can be of every imaginable style. There are no favorites we're looking for.... It's a creative contest.
While this program occurs during the Christmas holidays we recognize that some of our residence may not celebrate Christmas and prefer to decorate with other themes. We encourage people to decorate in a way that makes them happy and shows their creativity."
