The Southlake Tree Program is coming October 1 through November 30 –or- until all 40 trees are sold. T rees are available on a first come, first serve basis.
The purpose of the Street T ree Program is intended to provide Quality shade trees to citizens within the City to be planted within the right-of-way areas along the streets and corridors throughout the City. The trees are intended to provide shade, screening, wildlife, pollution control, reduction of water runoff, soil erosion control, increased property values, reduced stress, aesthetics, and a sense of well being within the community.
Timarron asks Southlake residents to help by purchasing a tree and donating the tree to Timarron Common Property along right-of ways. The City of Southlake splits the cost of the tree with residents. Timarron reimburses homeowners for their donated trees. Just present your receipt and flag to the on-site office at 700 Wentwood Drive, Southlake, TX 76092. Management mails reimbursement checks the following week to your residence. The Association’s tree preference is Chinese Pistache or Live Oaks. The Landscape Committee selects areas needing trees on Timarron common area right-ofways. However, feel free to voice your preferred location when presenting your receipt to management. While we cannot guarantee that the tree is planted in your preferred location, the Landscape Committee makes every attempt to accommodate homeowner requests. The Committee places flags on Timarron common areas just before the December/January planting.

Installing a New Roof?!
Whether triggered by a letter from your insurance company, recent storms, there are new roofs going up all over Timarron. Please be cautious if you are installing a new roof and keep in mind the following points: 1. Both Colleyville and Southlake require city permits to replace roofs.
2. Timarron requires approval for exterior changes/modifications.
That includes color, style, and product changes. Modification forms are available on the homeowner section of the Timarron website, click “Services and Amenities” on left of page, click the subheading “Architectural Review”, and finally click “Architectural Request” on right side of page.
3. When submitting a roofing modification request to Timarron, be sure to supply a sample section of the roofing material plus pamphlets, etc. that include the product specifications.

Kathy Epperson Timarron General Manager Walking to School Safety Teach your kids, especially those between five and nine years of age, to be wise walkers. Children in this age group often lack the understanding to deal safely with traffic. That’s why traffic safety education is so important for younger students. Chose the safest route to and from school and walk it with your children, showing them how to safely cross streets.
T ry to make walks to school a fun activity while practicing basic street-crossing rules.
For example, stop at the curb with your kids and draw a line on the sidewalk about 4” from the curb with chalk. Explain that this line is where they have to put on the “brakes” and STOP . Practice walking up to the line and say STOP together. Later, erase the line and practice again.
If the walk to school includes an intersection with traffic lights, let your child push the button to stop traffic, and then tell you when the WALK sign appears. Together, look left, right and left again to make sure traffic has stopped and cross the street using the crosswalk.

Kids must understand they have to wait for the WALK sign before crossing. Explain how the DON’T WALK sign means you can finish crossing the street if already in the road, but not to start crossing if you are still at the curb.
Be sure students know they must walk, not run, across the street, and then continue to look for vehicles - especially those turning right on red. Point out and demonstrate the importance of allowing enough time to cross the street safely.
Above all, set a good example for your children, their actions and attitudes are modeled after yours.

Don has lived in Crescent Royale for 10 years. Don strongly believes that the TOA (HOA) protects and enhances the value of Timarron residents’ property values by maintaining the high Timarron community standards.
He has willingly volunteered for boards and committees within the neighborhood and our great Southlake City for years. Within Timarron, Don has served on the board of the Timarron Owners Association, as well as being a delegate with the board, and serving on the Modifications Committee/new Construction Committee. I met Don a year ago when first becoming a delegate for Crescent Royale.
Don is very helpful and always courteous to work with. He wants to make sure that objectives are achieved and that everyone involved has the same understanding. Don has also served on Southlake’s Planning and Zoning Committee and assisted with local political campaigns. Don is truly a model citizen, who is always willing to give of his time for the betterment of the community. These special dogs are vaccinated, neutered or spayed, heartworm tested and assessed for temperament by usually spending a little time in a loving “foster home”. If needed, the dogs receive medical care before being placed up for adoption.
DFWCSR tries to find loving and forever homes for every rescued Cocker Spaniel. The adoption application process helps identify the best homes for these wonderful dogs. Most volunteers have their own Cocker kids and are familiar with situations and environments where Cocker Spaniels will do best, and they evaluate the dog’s individual personality. Every effort is made to match the dog with the new family’s lifestyle and environment, and “overnights” or “trials” with these dogs are encouraged. This helps to ensure the dog and family can live together happily forever.

Cooking Corner ORANGE BAKED ACORN SQUASH INGREDIENTS: 2 acorn squash, halved and seeded 1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed 2 tablespoons butter 4 teaspoons brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Fill a baking dish with about 1/2 inch water. Place squash halves cut side down in the dish, and bake 40 minutes in the preheated oven.
In a bowl, whisk together the thawed orange juice, butter, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

T ransfer the skillet to the oven and roast for 10 to 12 minutes, until the juices run clear and the meat is firm but not hard. Let the met rest for 5 minutes.
Mound the macerated berries on top of the chops and serve.
Thank you Rachel Ray!• • • • • • • • • • FROzEN T OFFEE CREAM PIE INGREDIENTS : 1 -1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs 6 tablespoons melted butter or margarine OR 1 Keebler Chocolate Cookie Crust 1 cup whipping cream 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk 1/4 cup cold strong coffee 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 3 Heath Bars crushed DIRECTIONS: Crust - In a small bowl, combine wafer crumbs and butter. Press firmly into a 9 inch pie plate. Chill.
Filling - In a medium mixing bowl, whip cream until stiff, then add condensed milk, coffee and vanilla on low speed (watch out it splashes). Beat on high until thickened. Stir in 2 bars and pour into crust. Sprinkle with 1 bar on top. Freeze for several hours or overnight.
