About HOAs in Montana
Montana community associations are governed by the Montana Unit Ownership Act (Mont. Code §§70-23-101 et seq.) for condominiums and by general nonprofit corporation law for HOAs and property owners' associations. State law sets requirements for the declaration, bylaws, unit-owner meetings, board elections, and access to records. Each Montana association also adopts its own rules and amendments.
